Process of making a batik
Process 1 - Diketeli
Exploring materials. Soaking the base cloth overnight.
Process 2 - Nyanting
Exploring patterns. Cover the pattern with wax to prevent being dyed.
Process 3 - Nyelup
Exploring colors. Dipping the cloth in the dyeing liquid.
Process 4 - Nglorod
Removing wax by washing the cloth in hot water mixed with soda ash solution.
Process 5 - Mepe
Drying the wet cloth under the sunshine.
